How you can use Sandblast in Los Angeles

You have older items that you want to refinish. One of the most popular ways is to decide to sandblast. You need to make sure that you take the proper steps to sandblast Los Angeles. The proper steps will make sure it works and that you do not get injured while you sandblast. One way to do this is by using a sandblasting cabinet that you can make yourself. The little extra time it takes will be worth it.

A sand blasting cabinet is chosen when you want to removed unwanted paint or rust from something. The materials themselves are inexpensive. You may wish to choose the cheapest medium to use when you sandblast Los Angeles. The choices include corn, sand, hematite, walnut shell, and backing soda. Be aware that using a sand blast cabinet can be a little costly but is safer than using chemical strippers like pain remover. Many people end up with chemical burns from paint remover.

You will need to start out by making the blasting cabinet. It can be made of materials like particle board, plywood, or metal. The size of it should be so that you ca still reach whatever is inside. Place holes about every 2 feet that you can put your hands in with gloves. Get something that will plug up those glove holes when you are not using them. Make sure you get a well made pair of gloves. You will need to make a window on it so you can see what you are doing. This can be made of glass, plexiglass, or acrylic. Remember that they will get scuffed so coat it with a protective coating. Controlling dust is important to the process. The intake section should be placed on the upper part of the box with the exhaust section on the other. Place a filter medium on either end. Pantyhose or a pillow case material would work well for this.

Make a grit system where you can catch it underneath the cabinet and have it refill the gun is ideal. This cuts down on waste. A filter screen is used to catch the particles you are blasting off while letting through your blasting medium. Ideas for this are porch screens or screens made for this type of purpose. Make sure you place lighting in the cabinet to see what you are doing. Good lighting will keep you from missing spots and having to do it again.

You will need an air compressor that can get up to 100 psi and 5-7 cfm or more. This will make it enough to get the job done. You will also need a blasting gun. You may be able to rent these items from you local hardware store to sandblast in Los Angeles. Do not forget a dust mask for yourself. You will also need to place a tarp in the area to catch the inevitable debris.

T You will need to fill a low spots with wood filler. The final product will need some sanding with a high grade sand paper.
