Copper Slag Sandblasting Abrasive Is Now Available In Convenient 75Lb Bags

These new 75lb bags are a great compromise between the 50 and 100lb packaging option, and have thus gained in popularity over the old packaging options.  This is rather important due to the popularity and efficacy of copper slag abrasive.

Copper slag is the abrasive of choice when it comes to cutting speed, aggressiveness, and cost. CARB approved, listed on Naval QPL-22262, copper slag is environmentally friendly, and approved for recycling in Portland cement. This is the best abrasive to use when ranked on cutting speed and cost per sq. ft., according to independent NIOSH tests. Copper slag is a hard, cubical, and aggressive sandblasting media. It is also dense enough to be reclaimed via a Cyclone separator, having a density of 115 to 120#'s/cubic foot. In addition, copper slag is dense enough to be used with steel grit.

• Listed on Naval QPL-22262 Environmentally friendly.
• Approved for recycling in Portland cement.
• Best abrasive to use when ranked on cutting speed and cost per sq. ft., according to independent NIOSH tests.
• Both arsenic and lead testing is done to the material and is therefore on the United States Naval Qualified Products list. California Air Resources Board (CARB) approved for dry outdoor abrasive blasting.
• Copper slag is now available with Blastox, an additive designed to cut down dust for enclosed blasting applications. Often preferred by the military.

 

Aggregate Properties:

• Sand Equivalent:  91%  (Extremely clean, with few contaminants such as ash, clay, etc.)
• LA Wear:  4% Loss  (LA Wear test is a test where the material is tumbled 100 to 500 times, then measure for loss of particle size.  A low number like 4% indicates a very good, low level of loss.  This is a test that is not really applicable to the sandblasting applications, but does indicate how tough the material is.)
• Uncompacted Voids:  45.6%  (Uncompacted Voids is a test that is irrelevant to sandblasting, it measures how well our material packs for roads.)
• Fractured Faces:  100%  (Fractured faces means that we have 100 percent fractured material and not rounded, making our slag excellent for sandblasting.)
