Custom pressure gauges: Sometimes they make sense and Cents!
Everyone likes to buy product off the shelf. It makes good sense. It is cheaper and more widely available.
When designing equipment it makes good sense to use commonly available component for both lower cost and more readily available spare parts.
Despite our best intentions, sometimes things are overlooked and errors made in the design process.
This often leads to one area of the equipment that has a conglomeration of parts to adapt the two originally desired parts together.
When the happens (and it does happen) and one of the components is a pressure gauge, it is worth your time to investigate a custom connection gauge that incorporates all desired changes right into the fitting of the gauge.
How many times have you seen a piece of equipment with one or more gauges on it where the gauges have at least one fitting between it and the line it is designed to measure. Maybe a manifold was designed with ½" NPT ports and the gauge has 1/4 " NPT ports. You could use a fitting or two to get the two pieces together. This is a relatively inexpensive and fast solution. It also makes the end product look less professional that it otherwise would. On top of that, it introduces new leak points.
There are gauge suppliers who specialize in this sort of custom gauge. There is little extra cost to this with even small volume (100 pieces depending on the application). This extra cost is a small price to pay for elimination a leak path and improving the aesthetics of your equipment.
You see when the gauge is made, it does not matter much what the connecting thread is, or how long the neck is. After all this fitting is welded to the bourdon tube in the manufacturing process, so variation in length or thread size does not affect the working of the gauge.
Mistakes happen. When a custom pressure gauge will solve the problem, it is worth your time to look for a supplier to get you back where you belong.

Process Performance Index $71.7 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In process improvement efforts, the process performance index is an estimate of the process capability of a process during its initial setup, before it has been brought into a state of statistical control. From a management standpoint, when an organization is under pressure to set up a new process quickly and economically, Ppk is a convenient metric to gauge how setup is progressing (increasing Ppk being interpreted as the process capability is improving ). The risk is that Ppk is taken to mean a process is ready for production before all the kinks have been worked out of it. Once a process is put into a state of statistical control, process capability is described using process capability indices, which are formulaically identical to Ppk (and Pp). The indices are named differently to call attention to whether the process under study is believed to be in control or not. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Basic Process Measurements $99.95 A unique resource for process measurement Basic Process Measurements provides a unique resource explaining the industrial measuring devices that gauge such key variables as temperature, pressure, density, level, and flow. With an emphasis on the most commonly installed technologies, this guide outlines both the process variable being measured as well as how the relevant measuring instruments function. The benefits of each technology are considered in turn, along with their potential problems. Looking at both new and existing technologies, the book maintains a practical focus on properly selecting and deploying the best technology for a given process application. The coverage in Basic Process Measurements enables the practitioner to: Resolve problems with currently installed devices Upgrade currently installed devices to newer and better technologies Add instruments for process variables not previously measurable Evaluate device installations from a perspective of both normal process operating conditions and abnormal conditions Determine the best technology for a given set of process conditions Designed for a wide range of technical professionals, Basic Process Measurements provides a balanced treatment of the concepts, background information, and specific processes and technologies making up this critical aspect of process improvement and control. |

Kaizen Improvement in a Process Organization $98.77 Todays managers often try to apply sophisticated tools and technologies to deal with problems that can be solved with lowcost approach. As saying Work smarter, not harder. Kaizen, first and foremost, builds the employees morale and self respect. Company benefits from workers participation as well as from the aggregate financial benefits of the ideas. The concept of Kaizen is deeply ingrained in everybodys mind at plant of medium sized company manufacturing cold rolled steel strips. More number of cold rolling mills is coming in the market and every one is trying to increase the profitability, which can only be possible through the continuous improvement in every field. An attempt has been done to implement Kaizen practice in a process industry to increase the overall profit of the company. A steering committee has been formed to monitor the overall Kaizen initiation and implementation. Different projects are selected in the field of consumable cost by reducing the consumption of fuel and power; quality defect by reducing the defect of gauge variation and stickers marks; and increase the production of bottleneck production line. The Process $10.95 "Process by definition means: ?progress, advance; something going on, proceeding.? Jonathan K. Archie has written an easy to understand, yet deeply insightful book about The Process God wants us to experience as He fulfills His will in our lives. We have to allow God to prepare us even through things, events, and occurrences that seem incongruent to our liking. We must be willing to use courage when necessary; be willing to have joy in times of sorrow, peace in the midst of confusion, and love for those who despise us ? all part of The Process. Life is the assembly plant that God uses to make us. Whether we know it or not, or like it or not, the process of life and the processes in life, and our responses to such, will determine our fate and eternal destiny." |

Process This $15.5 In Process This, Nancy DeJoy argues that even recent revisions to composition studies, cultural studies, service learning, and social process movements--continue to repress the subjects and methodologies that should be central, especially at the level of classroom practice. Designed to move student discourses beyond the classroom, these approaches nonetheless continue to position composition students (and teachers) as mere consumers of the discipline. This means that the subjects, methodologies, and theory/practice relationships that define the field are often absent in composition classrooms. Arguing that the world inside and outside of the academy cannot be any different if the profession stays the same, DeJoy creates a pedagogy and a plan for faculty development that revisions the prewrite/write/rewrite triad to open spaces for participation and contribution to all members of first-year writing classrooms. |
