How to build and install water Misters

To protect your family members, your pets and other livestock from the torrid heat of summer months, one cost-effective way is to build and install water mister. The water misting system keeps the entire area cool and wards of radiation by delivering a spray of water. A mister system is far cheaper and affordable to build and install than an air conditioning unit that is costly and expensive to run.

It is wise to first prepare a list of materials that will be needed to build a water mister - let us say for the barn.

•    1/4-inch vinyl tube (sufficiently adequate to cover the area you wish to mist)
•    1/4-inch T-connectors – you will require one for every two feet of tubing
•    Mist nozzles on barbs - you will require one for every two feet of tubing
•    Garden hose adapter to 1/4 inch
•    Teflon tape
•    Hammer
•    1/4-inch cable staples
•    A pair of scissors
•    Either a box cutter or a craft knife

Once you have got all the required items ready, you can begin building the water mister.

As a first step, you should wrap the threads of your hose bib with the Teflon tape and then tightly screw the hose adapter to the hose bib. You should next insert the hose connector into one end of the vinyl tubing, shoving the connector as deep as possible into the tubing to prevent possible leakages.

Position the tubing at a corner of the barn wall near the hose faucet. Tack a cable staple around the tubing to fasten it securely to the barn using the hammer. Continue stapling the tubing up the side of the barn till the level wherefrom you wish the mist to originate.

Then again staple the tubing horizontally along the barn. Cut the tubing off using the craft knife allowing a foot out.  Now, insert a T-connector into the end of the tubing that is attached to the barn.

You should now attach the loose end of tubing to the other side of the T-connector. You must continue tacking the tubing using the hammer and cable staples for another length of two feet. Cut the tubing once again, and insert a T-connector. Tack the tubing around the remainder of the barn. Make sure to cut the tubing every two feet and insert a T-connector.

Finally insert a mist nozzle into each of the T-connectors. Twist the T's and nozzles out away from the barn siding. Turn on the water slowly, allowing it to reach all of the nozzles. You may increase the water pressure gradually one-quarter turn at a time.

After successfully building the misting system, it is necessary that you use it properly to derive maximum advantage. Select a suitable convenient place to hang it in the air. This place should obviously cover the area that you want to cool.

Adequate care should be taken when you fix a fan in front of the hose as the set up should not be disturbed. When the weather really turns hot, turn off the fan and the water to enjoy the cool fresh air and escape the oppressive heat. You need no longer dread the summers.
