The difference Between audio Mixing Audio Mastering
Audio Mastering: First off, lest define audio mastering. Audio mastering is a form of post production. It prepares your final mix to its final destination source and this source is used for CD Replication and Duplication. Mastering also involved the use of audio processing. It will enhance the final mix with the use of EQ, Compression/Limiting, Image Enhancement and Noise Reduction techniques. It also arranged the final sequenced track order.
Mastering uses a stereo mix down of the final mix. You do not dither and you do not change the bit depth or sample rate. You keep them both at their original depths.
Audio Mixing involves the use of single tracks and each track is processed in the context of the mix. In mixing you can use any effects that is needed to get the sound your going for. Looking at each definition, you can now see what audio mixing and audio mastering are different. With mixing, you use the tracks in the song and add effects to the tracks as needed and in audio mastering, you use a stereo wave file that was mixed down and kept at its original sample rate and bit depth
Why should you have your songs professionally mastered? there are allot of reasons, but a few that stick out are:
- It will give your song a way to compete with professionally released CDs
- It can be the difference between your song sounding good and great
- It can be the difference between getting a job or being signed by record label
